If you are reporting something broken
Four lines make almost any report actionable, and you can copy them straight out of the app — Settings › About carries the version and build.
- What you did, and what happened instead.
- The version and build from Settings › About, and your iPhone model and iOS version.
- Whether you had chosen an AI provider, and which one.
- A screenshot, if there was something to see.
Please do not paste the text of a private note to show the problem. If the content matters, say what shape it had — how long, which language, whether it named a time.
The questions that come up most
My note saved, but it has no title or summary
That is the designed fallback rather than a failure, and it means no model was available. Nave writes your words to disk first and always, then asks a model to write the title, the summary, the key points and the actions. Open the gear icon on the Notes screen › Intelligence › AI provider and choose one — Nave needs no key and no account. On an iPhone 15 Pro or later with Apple Intelligence switched on in iOS Settings, Nave uses that on the device and there is nothing to choose.
Intelligence is agreed for each space separately, so a second space you created later may still have none.
The built-in AI says I've reached a limit
Nave Free has limits on how many notes the built-in AI writes up, how many edits it makes each month and how long a recording can be. The app shows the current numbers. When you reach one, your notes still save. You can switch to your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Google key under Settings › AI provider, to Apple Intelligence if your iPhone runs it, or to Nave Pro, which lifts the limits. See pricing.
Where are my notes, really?
In the Files app, under iCloud Drive › Nave, as plain Markdown — one file per note, readable and editable without Nave, and yours to move, copy or delete. If iCloud Drive is off, the same files sit in Nave's own Documents folder on the iPhone. Deleting the app removes its search index and its settings; it does not remove the files in iCloud Drive.
Nothing is syncing to my other device
Nave has no sync of its own — it writes into iCloud Drive and iCloud does the syncing. Check that iCloud Drive is on in iOS Settings › your name › iCloud, that the same Apple Account is signed in on both devices, and that Low Data Mode is not holding the transfer back.
Reminders are not appearing
Nave asks for Reminders access only after you turn reminders on and a note actually names a time. If you refused the prompt, iOS will not ask again: iOS Settings › Nave › Reminders is where it is granted. Nave never reads your existing reminders; iOS simply offers no write-only permission.
Dictation is transcribing the wrong language
Settings › Voice lists the languages Nave will listen for, taken from the keyboards installed on this iPhone. Add the keyboard in iOS Settings first, then choose it in Nave.
I want my data removed
Your notes are files in your iCloud Drive, and we have no copy. Delete the files, the app, or both. If you used Nave's built-in AI, the text went through our server to OpenAI or Anthropic. We didn't save it, but they may keep it for up to 30 days. On our side we keep a usage count for your install and server logs, and your email address if you joined the Mac list. Write to hello@navememory.com and we'll delete what we can find. What goes to a model, what does not, and what we keep is set out in full on the privacy page.
